Player Checklist

  • Chair / Stool - You never know when you are going to need to rest. Playing the Riverbend Courses is a physical feat and having a seat in the middle of a fairway while you wait to throw can be so relaxing.

  • Spare Towels - The ability for the weather to change here is amazing and you can bet it might be moisture that is coming.  So having a few extra dry towels in Ziplocks bags can make or break a good round at Milo when the rains come.

  • Umbrella - We do gets some rain occasionally but we also get some sun. In either case the umbrella can make for a rain shelter or a shade generator.

  • Sun Screen - The UV rating is not very high here in Portland in the end of May, but it can also surprise you if you are not from a sunny region of the world. A couple 3 hour rounds here in the sun can leave you feeling a little wipped out.

  • Rain Gear - Should the rain come this is the single most important thing you can have in your golf bag. It should be light weight and not cumbersome to wear after all you still need to play good enough to win.

  • Snacks/Drinks - A long round can really take the life out of your energy levels. Instead of dreaming of the lunch waiting for you at Tournament Central after your round, pack a few snacks and drinks into your bag and maintain that energy level all round.

  • Spare Discs/ Putters - There are areas of the course that will take your precious primary discs so a few spares are critical. Also the putters are great to have to challenge the putting course between rounds or to warm up with before the round.

  • Money - You never know when you need a little cash to cover ends. Whether it be the disc you just have to have or the side action games that you know you can win. Its always nice to have a little $$$.

  • Watch/ Time Piece - We use tee times on the weekends and 4 different starting holes between two courses so a time piece is something critical. The course is big from end to end so if you head out to the wrong starting hole on the wrong course you will have to high tail it with some urgency to make it to the other side of the park. That time piece might just save you a sweaty spring to the other side of the park.

  • Camera - Not everything is disc golf and Oregon has a lot to see and do, so bring that camera and get out after your round and snap some pictures. Perhaps you will make it out to the Columbia River Gorge or up to Mt Hood for a snow ball fight.

  • Your A Game - The courses at Riverbend will challenge your entire golf game, whether it be rollers, upshots, overhead shots or big power drives. The courses incoporates long sweeping holes, tight wooded holes and some elevation throughout. These courses are demanding without the need for artificial OB's and mandatory flight paths so be ready for it all by practicing, practicing and practicing some more and be ready to lay it on the line.
